Traffic Study

NOTICE:

The meeting of the Cabin John Citizens' Association (CJCA), which was postponed due to the snow storm last month, will be held tonight, Wednesday, February 24, from 7:30 - 9:00. The agenda will include a discussion of traffic-related issues and a representative of the Clara Barton Parkway will be there.

CJCA Wed Meeting - Traffic-related Agenda:

  1. morning cut-thru commuter traffic on Tomlinson and Arden (you have one suggestion from the community that you are considering),

  2. west bound evening traffic that gets stuck on the Cabin John (one lane) bridge after the traffic light has changed, and

  3. how to allow better access to the CJ Gardens during the morning and evening rush hours.

As reported at the 2015 Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors has been in communication with representatives of Montgomery County, concerning an ongoing effort by Montgomery County and the National Park Service to consider options for alleviating the excess traffic, which often occurs around rush hours, at the intersection of MacArthur Blvd. and the Clara Barton Access Road. This excess traffic also often makes it difficult and/or dangerous for members to enter or exit Cabin John Gardens. The Board is soliciting input and participation in this process by interested members.

The Cabin John Citizens Association also intends to discuss this issue at their next meeting. That meeting had been scheduled for January 26, but was cancelled due to the snow. It will be rescheduled, depending on the availability of the traffic representative from Montgomery County, who is expected to come and address the meeting. Tentatively, the meeting is expected to be held on February 24. The original announcement of the topic can be viewed from the document folder below. Once the new date has been set, it will probably be announced on the Cabin John Citizens Association - Official News bulletin board, which you can access by clicking here.
